About Prey Veng
Prey Veng is a province in Cambodia on the east bank of the Mekong River. The city of Prey Veng is 91km south-east Phnom Penh and has a population of 1 million people.
Prey Veng suffers alternately from droughts and flooding by the Mekong and is regarded as the poorest of Cambodia’s provinces. Even by Cambodian standards Prey Veng suffers from a lack of infrastructure, basic services and employment opportunities, resulting in a significant level of poverty.
