We have had a lot of queries lately about what is required at Mekhala House that people can donate towards. Some of the important items that we need specific funding for the moment include:
- Top-up for first aid and medical supplies @ $20 per month
- Insect repellent (to prevent malaria/dengue) @ $30 per month
- Fluoride tablets for 45 children @ $50 per month (purchased in Australia as are unavailable in Cambodia)
- Annual eye check up for children and staff @ $110
- Water filters for water purifier - annual supply @ $160
- Organic farming starter kit @ $180
- Childrens' new books, uniforms, etc for the academic year running from Sep @ $240
- Major repairs to the car that takes the children to and from school every day @ $2,000
We are also currently sourcing donations for the following second-hand items:
- light-weight (summer) clothes for girls between the ages of 3 and 16 years old
- educational DVDs and toys (small enough to be carried to Cambodia)
- a digital camera (to replace the one that broke)
- mobile phone (for the security guards to use at night)
If you are able to help us out, please contact Melani on 0414 291 680 or email
fdcc@fdcc.org.au to organise delivery or pick-up for any physical donations. All such donations will be sent over to Mekhala House in Cambodia via visiting Australian volunteers or FDCC directors.
