Values and Principles
At FDCC we believe that:
Children
-
Our highest priority is the safety and security of our children
-
Each child should be treated as an individual with unique needs and wants
-
Each child should be given every opportunity to attain their personal goals
-
The children at Mekhala House should be provided with the level of emotional and material support that would be found in a typical middle class Cambodian family
-
The physical environment at Mekhala House should be supportive and non-threatening to the children’s emotional and physical needs
-
The emotional and financial support of the children should continue after they leave Mekhala House
-
The children should not be used as a marketing channel to raise funds for FDCC
-
Adult carers and visitors should not give preferential treatment to one child over another
-
The children should have access to education to create opportunities to improve their lives
-
FDCC will maintain a connection with the children after they leave Mekhala House
-
The children should be encouraged to maintain relationships with their guardians and relatives while at Mekhala House and after they leave
