Donate money
We rely on donations to help us raise adequate funds to operate the orphanage. At any point in time we have limited funds that will only cover operating costs for about 4 months into the future. Therefore, a regular flow of donations is essential to keep the orphanage operating.
Any financial assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.
100% of donations raised (apart from some standard bank fees and minimal postage costs) go back to Mekhala House's operating costs. The Australian directors and volunteers are not paid wages or reimbursed for their expenses in travelling to Cambodia.
One-off donation or regular donations are gratefully received - we accept credit card and direct debit transfers. Please email us on
fdcc@fdcc.org.au for further details.

Hold a fundraiser for us
To date our supporters have come up with innovative ways of helping us raise funds. These include:
-
Including us on their gift register for farewells, weddings, anniversaries, 21st and 50th birthday parties;
-
Organising functions such as music concerts, book readings, afternoon tea parties and yoga meditation sessions;
-
Holding raffles and silent auctions;
-
Donating wine, food and venues for fundraising dinners;
-
Donating items for auction during our fundraising events such as gift/dinner vouchers and artwork or framed photos.
Therefore, any help you could possibly provide with raising funds would really go a long way in supporting the children.
Items that currently require funding
Apart from ongoing operating costs, we also require funds for capital expenditure. Examples of items that we need to raise funds for include:
-
US$250 or A$300 for a block of toilets at the local primary school which is attended by our children (they currently have no facilities);
- US$2,500 or A$3,000 per month for operational costs that include food, clothes, rent, salaries, etc;
- US$12,000 or A$14,500 for a second-hand 25-seater minibus to take our children to school and for other additional excursions;
- US$125,000 or A$150,000 to purchase land and buildings to house our children and build facilities to benefit the poor and disadvantaged in the Prey Veng community.
