Ongoing Development
To establish a viable operating model that provides for the ongoing needs of the children and meets the long term objectives of FDCC, the Australian Board has arranged pro bono legal advice on:
-
securing tax exemption status; and
-
ensuring that its governance provisions and processes are legally and operationally compliant.
FDCC is also developing plans for the implementation of community development projects that will aim to enhance the wellbeing of the local community of Prey Veng. Examples of community development programs that FDCC is seeking to establish are:
-
Community HIV project.
-
Community English classes, health workshops etc.
-
Set up an English language school for primary school children, (which currently does not exist in Prey Veng).
-
Undertake small projects in Prey Veng in collaboration with other NGO’s (e.g. agriculture).
-
Establish a scheme where Mekhala House children provide help within the community, e.g. assisting elderly people.
-
Establish a scheme where Mekhala House grows healthy produce for the local community, e.g. fruit, vegetables, chickens, fish etc.
